I’ve been watching these healthcare townhall meetings that have been taking place over the past few days. Specifically, I watched Obama and Spector Monday morning. Now, everyone knows that I’m a conservative, and I call myself a Republican because I don’t care WHAT Democrat was running, I’d vote against them. The ‘ol theory of “lesser of two evils.”
Anyway, I noticed a few things that really bothered me. First and foremost I want to say, and I’ve said it before, I’m REALLY tired of listening to everything that health “insurance reform” (the new tag line to demonize insurance companies) WON’T do, but NEVER what it WILL do. Folks keep reading the bill and interpreting what they are seeing. And I’m not disagreeing with them, frankly. All these folks in Washington can say is “no, it won’t do that. That would be crazy. Stop watching cable news.” Ya’, right. YOU WISH.
Not ONE politician has said “I don’t believe it means that, but if you want us to clarify, I agree that we should pass an amendment that SPELLS OUT that it won’t ever do that.” Coinky-DINK? DOUBT IT.
Anywho! These are some of the things that bothered me:
1. There won’t be tax-payer funded abortions. Well, technically they are right. KNOW WHY?? Because there was an amendment that was introduced that said an accounting trick would make sure that the individual dollars sent in by an individual for their “premiums” would be the exact same dollars that would go to the doctor for the abortion. HUH?? Okay, so women get a savings account for abortions, then who’s paying their portion of the “collective” premiums?? This is just LUDICROUS, and a piece of $hit way to avoid the truth. Everyon KNOWS that liberals are very PRO-CHOICE. And I have to admit that I’M pro-choice. HOWEVER, unfortunately for democrats, a recent poll shows that the majority of Americans are NOT pro-choice. They are pro-life. This presents a VERY difficult problem that they will be FORCED to address, because it’s part of their party platform.
2. Congress-folks saying “Sure, I’m willing to sign on to this program!” Well, they will! They’ll HAVE to. This bill would require that any time the contract is changed between the insurer and the individual or group, after January 1, 2013, that the contract MUST be made thru the government funded “exchange.” Okay, so that’s nice. But WILL THESE CONGRESS FOLKS TAKE THE PUBLIC OPTION AS THEIR PLAN, as many average Americans will be forced to take? That’s an absolute NO. The better demand from folks at townhall meetings is: PUT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY ON THE PUBLIC OPTION THAT YOU THINK IS GOING TO BE A SOCIALIST UTOPIA. Ya’………that’ ain’t happenin’. Keep in mind that these folks make a lot of money, and most HAVE a lot of money. The “cadillac” programs that they get now, will be available in the exchange……….for a $hit load of money. Premiums are going to skyrocket under this bill, to an estimated 7% of your income. Loving the change??
3. Congress-folks saying “Of COURSE I would never support a bill that would give illegal aliens tax-payer funded care!” DUH. They won’t HAVE to. Illegals will TAKE it. Two things: 1) There is no provision to provide proof of citizenship to purchase insurance from the exchange; 2) the far more TROUBLING issue, ILLEGAL AMNESTY COMING DOWN THE PIPE.
Obama had planned on having this healthcare reform issue all neatly wrapped up and in place by August. Keep in mind that he had DEMANDED that Congress get their $hit together and this whole issue done & voted on by TWO WEEKS AGO. And the when he really thought it was going to happen, about a month ago, the White House released a statement saying that their next agenda was “IMMIGRATION REFORM.” And we all know what kind of “change” Obama & Pelosi have in mind for THAT! Pelosi believes that NOT giving them complete amnesty is “unAmerican” (a theme for her), and that we OWE it to them. You can listen to her giving a speech to a church full of illegal immigrants below, telling them how patriotic they are.
That B*TCH has GOT to go!
4. It’s ludicrous that we’d be pulling the plug on Grandma! Um……. I’m not so SURE about that. Government has learned some very valuable lessons over time. Not the least of which is this: when sticky issues that become VERY unpopular are decided by formulas or “rules” beyond their control, it deflects blame. You can see this pretty clearly in the story of the gal from Oregon (where they have statewide gov’t run healthcare) that received a letter from the gov’t saying that they wouldn’t pay $5000 for the medication she needed to treat her cancer, but that they WOULD pay $50 for the drugs necessary to euthanize her. THIS LETTER WASN’T SIGNED.

And who would question WHY?? Who the HELL would be stupid enough to sign their name to THAT letter to a poor woman in the last days of her life?? NO ONE.
And this tactic works for gov’t time and time again. This is why legislation has limits, rules and “guidelines.” If you make $25k a year you get $5k in free stuff. If you make $25,010 YOU DON’T GET SHIT. Doesn’t seem fair to the guy with the extra ten dollars in his pocket…………
These healthcare bills have a panel comprised of 27 UN-ELECTED folks, that I would presume would, in the end, remain anonymous, that will be deciding what benefits you receive, at what costs, and when/if treatments are available. This is the SAME reason the White House has requested legislation to move any and all Medicare benefits decisions AWAY from the Congress and into a similar panel UNDER WHITE HOUSE CONTROL, to make decisions: SO THAT YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.
We’ve all seen these gov’t programs run amok. And you don’t have to look far. Massachusetts, in the last days of their legislature, amended their statewide gov’t run healthcare, to EXCLUDE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. So folks that came to America, became citizens and live in Massachusetts apparently aren’t deserving enough……because “the cuts have to start somewhere.”
We all have to admit one thing: a public option is INTENDED to lead toward a universal healthcare system. The only difference between this way and just DOING IT?? A slow, systematic “self dismantling” of the private insurance industry. Pretty brilliant on the libs part, eh??
If you look at how socialized medicine has been run ANYWHERE in the world, it’s a failure by any measure. That being said, look at the SIZE of the countries where it is being tried. Most of them are smaller than half of our STATES. How in the WORLD does our inept federal government think that they can suddenly take over the healthcare choices for 300 + MILLION people, with 300 + MILLION DIFFERENT & UNIQUE PROBLEMS, and NOT create a cluster F*CK the likes of which we haven’t seen since Hiroshima???
They can’t.
