Watching a recent townhall meeting I heard a gal ask “why not leave these issues up to the states?”
Well, I’ll tell you the answer that President Obama will NEVER admit: The failing liberal states that have tried socialism (or will try) will lose their revenue source needed to pay for it. Those revenue sources will move …….to conservative states. And the conservative, small-gov’t theoried states will thrive. This is a bad thing for liberals.
We have three states that I’m aware of that currently have this “universal healthcare”, or government run “insurance” operating in their states. AND EACH ONE IS FAILING. Tennessee, Massachusetts, Oregon and the city of San Francisco in BANKRUPT CALIFORNIA. I’m sure there are many others, but even just THESE examples prove my point.
You don’t hear much about it on the news, but Massachusetts and Oregon are the poster children of what we DO NOT WANT spread around our great country. Oregon’s system is the one that recently sent a letter to a woman with breast cancer telling her that the $5000 drug tab, to extend her life for an indeterminate amount of time, was too much of a burden for the “collective” but that they WOULD be willing to pay the $50 it would take to put her down. SERIOUSLY?? Yes, seriously. Read about it here.
Massachusetts’s system, dubbed “Romney Care”, is the one that recently declared that LEGAL immigrants, U.S. citizens that just weren’t BORN here, would be dropped from the “compassionate universal coverage.” Hmmm…… that’s ironic. (Maybe they don’t understand the definition of “universal.” ) They said that cuts needed to be made, and they “had to start somewhere.” That’s gov’t compassion for ya’. Read about it here.
Michael Tanner, the director of health and welfare studies at the libertarian Cato Institute, said that the Romney care program plan costs taxpayers a “great deal of money.” (Sounds like what Republicans keep touting about Obama-Kill-You-Care?!)
“Originally, the plan was projected to cost $1.8 billion this year. Now it is expected to exceed those estimates by $150 million,” he said in 2008. “Over the next 10 years, projections suggest that Romney Care will cost about $2 billion more than was budgeted.” (Again, sounds like familiar arguments made about the current left-lurching-liberal plans in Congress right now.) OH, and Massachusetts has a FLAT TAX on income. More than 5%. So no matter how much money you make, if you’re a legal immigrant you’re paying the state of Massachusetts 5+% of your income to pay for “free healthcare” that you’re not allowed to use………. WOW.
Massachusetts also has more doctors per capita than any other state in the U.S. They ALSO have a wait time of about 60 days to see a doctor. WOW. Do YOU want to wait 60 days to see the doctor?? Well, you won’t have to………..BECAUSE IT’LL BE WAY LONGER THAN THAT.
The “San Francisco Health Access Plan” has no dental or optometry, and only covers residents of San Francisco IN San Francisco. It’s not really “insurance”, it just subsidizes their costs when they DO go to the doctor, and makes them pay a monthly premium that they weren’t paying before whether they want to or not. (Again……….sounding familiar??) San Francisco also has a CITY tax of 9.5%. WOW. That’s on TOP of any state, county and federal tax. And also the highest local tax in California. Weird…………
Oh, and it MANDATES that employers provide health insurance. The city got sued over this and won, and I’m guessing they lost some businesses over it……….
Which leads to my theory. If individual states start employing the monsterous tax-hiking , money eating, wait-line-creating nightmare that is government controlled access to healthcare, TAXES WILL MOST INEVITABLY RISE. And not just for the “rich.” They will need the sheer volume of the people to raise the money necessary.
If any particular state has to start raising taxes IN THAT STATE the successful businesses will start recognizing the mass benefit of relocating their business & manufacturing (READ: JOBS!!) to a state that doesn’t have excessively high taxes and big government regulation.
Obama knows this. And he also knows that the Federal Government, bloated and over-grown as it is, has the only avenue to balance this issue for the liberal states: TAXING EVERYONE IN EVERY STATE, AND SPREADING THE LOVE & “COMPASSION“ WHERE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SEES FIT. (READ: REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH)
The only way to pay for these pie-in-sky socialist government takeovers of private industry is taxing the massive wealth of the American people. With the federal government having a seeminly unlimited amount of cash, in the form of taxes from the 153 million wage earners, and the millions of businesses operating in this country, they can take money from Utah to pay for someone’s AIDS treatment in Chicago, or take money from Iowa to pay for some 14 year old’s abortion in Virginia. Thus exempting the individual states from experiencing the revenue killing localized taxes required to implement socialism.
As a side note: Most folks know I’m pro-choice…..within limits. I think everybody needs to be responsible for themselves, and stay out of other folks’ business. But I also empathize with pro-lifers and completely understand their position. That being said, I think many people don’t realize that they have elected a man that advocated for letting babies that survived botched abortions be left to die (because he’s pro-late-term abortion). http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=202523 You can be guaranteed that abortions will be subsized by taxpayers. The federal courts have ruled that if abortion is not specifically EXCLUDED, then it must be INCLUDED. And OBama knows this. Which is why every amendment to prohibit tax-funded abortions have been defeated with this healthcare debate in Congress.
THIS IS THE KIND OF RADICAL THAT HAS BEEN ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. He’s not stupid, to be sure, but he also doesn’t give a $hit about YOU. He wants to socialize this country, and globalize our governing. We need to stop it now before he succeeds.
